Meta Launches Threads
If you’ve been paying attention to the news lately, you have almost certainly heard that Meta has launched a new social media platform called Threads.
But what exactly is the app all about? And should your dealership be marketing itself on it?
Let's Start with The Basics
- Twitter Competitor: Threads is designed to challenge Twitter, which has lost millions of active users since Elon Musk bought the platform in October of last year.
- Functionality: Meta says Threads is a “text-based conversation app.” Posts on the app can contain up to 500 characters. They can also include links, images, and videos.
- Community: Since its launch last week, Threads has already grown to over 100 million users. If the app continues to grow at this pace, it could have more users than Twitter by the end of the year.
Sounds intriguing, right? But could it be an effective advertising tool for your dealership?
Should Your Dealership be on Threads?
The experienced marketers here at fusionZONE say yes! Here’s why:
- A Dynamic Image: Joining Threads while it’s still in its infancy shows your dealership is innovative and willing to move with the times. This image will be particularly appealing to young shoppers.
- An Alternative to Twitter: If your dealership already has a Twitter account, you’re like to find that many of your followers will move to Threads. If you don’t want to lose touch with them, you need to be on Meta’s new app too.
- Access to New Users: Joining Threads won’t just allow you to advertise to people who made the switch from Twitter. It’ll also give you access to people who don’t regularly use any other social media apps.
