Stellantis Will Ship Fewer Cars to States with Strict Emissions Rules

Stellantis has announced it may begin limiting shipments of ICE vehicles to dealerships in states that have adopted strict emissions regulations, including:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Virginia, and
  • Washington

In a memo to its dealers, Stellantis said that as a result of the more stringent standards, it would be “compelled to allocate fewer conventional gasoline engine vehicles” to these regions.

The automaker also explained it “may choose not to advertise some trimlines” in these states.

So, what does all of this mean for your dealership? Well, if you are based in one of the impacted areas, you might not be able to “order or receive shipments of certain vehicles from time to time, including to fulfill sold orders.”
