Texas Mandates Tesla Tech for EV Chargers

  • The Federal Requirements: Federal regulations require companies to offer Combined Charging System (CCS) plugs to be eligible for funding. However, they also allow states to add their own rules before distributing the money at the local level.
  • The Texas Transportation Commission’s Decision: Despite opposition from charging companies, the Texas Transportation Commission voted unanimously to require firms to add NACS ports to their EV chargers if they wish to receive federal funding.
